NOISE DOSIMETRY

Schauenburg Systems offers locally custom-designed noise dosimetry solutions. We provide a range of products to measure noise levels.

Advanced noise dosimetry

The noise generated in the industrial and mining sectors can negatively impact the health of workers. Continuous exposure to high noise levels can lead to hearing loss. Specialised equipment is needed to prevent damage to workers and comply with occupational safety regulations. Schauenburg Systems manufactures and provides products for noise monitoring.

Our cutting-edge noise dosimetry solutions include the noise doseBadge and the noise doseBadge5. These devices enable users to measure the noise levels workers are exposed to on a plant. Along with measuring capacity, our doseBadge allows you to measure, store and calculate the data essential for compliance with occupational noise regulations.

Protect your workers from occupational noise exposure today with our range of noise dosimetry products. Our solutions are suitable for occupational, personal noise monitoring and niche monitoring including noise monitoring for forklift and plant vehicle drivers.

    Noise measurement equipment features

    Types of noise dosimetry tools

Noise dosimetry encompasses several types, each tailored to specific noise measurement and management aspects. Personal noise dosimetry uses small devices that people wear (personal noise dosimeters). These devices track how much noise they are exposed to at work, providing detailed information about each person’s noise levels.

Area noise dosimetry uses fixed devices to measure and record noise levels in different facility parts. This helps identify areas with high noise. Occupational noise exposure surveys measure noise exposure in various jobs and places, helping to evaluate and improve noise control measures.

    Noise doseBadge

Our doseBadge is a dual-channel instrument designed to measure, store, and calculate data crucial for meeting occupational noise regulations, including metrics such as LAeq, LCPeak, and LEP,d. It captures a time history or noise profile during measurement.

The RC:110A reader unit allows the device to store up to 93 measurements over 8 hours or 33 measurements over 24 hours, ensuring reliable data retention for extended monitoring sessions. It features an intelligent NiMH battery system with a 90-minute charge time and 30 hours of battery life. The doseBadge communicates via infrared to the reader unit, which connects via USB 2.0. The unit is lightweight at 45g and operates in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C. The accompanying NoiseTools software provides seamless data download, analysis, and reporting functionality.

The measurement kit can be expanded with additional doseBadges, windshields, helmet mounts and charger units as required.

    Noise doseBadge5

The doseBadge5 is a robust and easy-to-use wireless noise dosimeter designed to ensure compliant occupational noise exposure measurements. Equipped with Bluetooth® connectivity and the ability for simultaneous noise parameter measurement, it offers remote operation through the dB Control or dBLink App for flexible, real-time monitoring.

A compact, tamper-proof design eliminates the need for cables or displays, making it reliable in any environment. It has standard 1:1 octave bands for choosing personal protective equipment (PPE). The NoiseTools software simplifies data logging and analysis. With over 22 hours of battery life and fast charging, the doseBadge5 ensures uninterrupted noise monitoring.

    Frequently asked questions

What are noise dosimeters in the workplace?

Noise dosimeters are tools that measure how much noise a person is exposed to at work over a certain time. They monitor if workers are exposed to dangerous noise levels that might cause hearing loss or other health problems. These devices are worn on the body, usually near the ear, and they constantly check sound levels during the workday.

Noise dosimetry involves attaching a dosimeter to a worker’s clothing near the ear to continuously measure noise exposure throughout their shift. The device captures data on noise levels, which is then analysed to determine if the exposure exceeds regulatory limits. Noise monitor calibration is performed before use, and data is retrieved and compared against standards to assess risk. Based on the findings, recommendations are made to implement controls or protective measures to reduce occupational noise exposure.

The occupational noise exposure limit is 85 dBA.

A dosimeter provides accurate, real-time measurements of worker’s noise exposure over time, allowing an assessment of compliance with safety regulations. It helps identify high-risk areas and tasks, ensuring that workers are protected from excessive noise levels that could lead to hearing loss.

A sound level meter measures noise levels at a specific time. It is useful for quick checks. It also helps evaluate noise in certain locations. In contrast, a dosimeter measures a person’s total noise exposure during a work shift. It records this information to provide a complete view of their exposure. This helps ensure compliance with safety regulations.
